Sirodhara
Sirodhara is a classical Ayurvedic therapy where herbal liquid is poured on the forehead in a continuous stream. Different herbal liquids like oil (tailadhara), medicated milk (ksheerradhara), medicated buttermilk (takradhara), and medicated decoction (kashaya dhara) are used. This therapy connects and energises the ‘nadis’ or channels that sustain life, inducing sleep, improving memory and concentration, reducing hypertension, and helping with hair problems, chronic headaches, and stress management.
Kati Vasthi
Kati Vasthi involves holding warm Ayurvedic oils over the lower back. A medicinal paste is applied in a ring around the afflicted area, and warm Ayurvedic oil is poured in its centre. Followed by a back massage and steam with hot towels, this procedure lubricates and strengthens the joints, ligaments, and nerves in the back area, effectively treating chronic back pain, disc problems, lumbar spondylitis, and sciatica.
Greeva Vasthi
Greeva Vasthi retains warm medicated oil in the neck region, beneficial for cervical spondylitis. This therapy lubricates and treats degeneration of cervical joints, minimises pain and stiffness in the neck and shoulders, and strengthens the neck muscles.
Janu Vasthi
Janu Vasthi involves retaining medicated oil in the knee region, removing stiffness and pain in the knee joints, restoring lubrication, strengthening and nourishing the knee joints, improving their mobility, and protecting them from age-related changes like osteoarthritis and osteoporosis.
Pizhichil
Pizhichil, meaning ‘squeezing,’ involves squeezing medicated oil onto the patient's body. This therapy relieves body pains and muscle spasms, aids in healing fractured bones, improves blood circulation, reduces nervous weakness, and helps in conditions like arthritis, paralysis, and hemiplegia.
Nasyakarma
Nasyakarma involves instilling medicated oil into the nostrils drop by drop, cleansing areas above the shoulders, including the nose, throat, sinuses, and head. This therapy is helpful for facial paralysis, migraine, sinusitis, hair loss prevention, and premature greying. It is also useful in beauty therapies.
Herbal Potli
Herbal Potli is a popular procedure where natural healing Ayurvedic herbs are crushed and bundled into muslin cloth pouches, or Potlis. These warm Potlis are used to massage the body or specific parts, alleviating pain and stiffness and eliminating wastes and toxins from the body.
